MidCentral DHB pharmacies during COVID-19

Last updated on 15 June 2020

Pharmacy teams in the MidCentral District are committed to keeping you well. Community Pharmacies in the MidCentral region are now open for business as usual. You can call in for advice and over the counter medicines and shopping. You can also telephone for advice if you don’t want to come in or are unwell.

Going to your pharmacy in person

Although pharmacists and their staff love looking after you, please do not visit if you are unwell with cold and flu like symptoms. Please use the hand sanitizer provided to help keep us all safe. . We must continue to keep ourselves safe

If you are unwell, please do not come into the Pharmacy. Ask a healthy person to pick up your prescription. Or ring and ask about delivery options.

Getting your prescription filled

Pharmacists are still encouraging paperless prescriptions directly from your GP. They can still prescribe a 3 month supply (or 6 months of an oral contraceptive) but it must be dispensed monthly. Even though New Zealand is COVID free at the moment all our medicines come from overseas and so the supply chain is stretched. There may be a 24-hour delay for pharmacies to complete non-urgent prescriptions. Please continue to order your repeat scripts as usual, ring or email or text first to order them to help with workflow. Please do not order repeat prescriptions early.

Contact tracing

To help you maintain your digital diary, a lot of pharmacies will have a COVID 19 QR code for you to scan.

Delivery options

If you are unable to come to a pharmacy AND you do not have someone who can pick up your prescription, you will still be able to get your medicines. Please ask the pharmacy about their delivery options
