Visitors policy during COVID-19

Last updated on 15 February 2021

Under Alert Levels 1 and 2, COVID-19 visitor restrictions are lifted at MidCentral DHB facilities, including Palmerston North Hospital, Horowhenua Health Centre and Te Papaioea Birthing Centre.

Our public entrances will be opened at the usual times, but visitors are asked to sign in using the COVID-19 Tracer App or keep a record of their visit in a notebook.

Despite the easing of the visitor policy, please be responsible when using our facilities. It is very important for visitors, support people and staff to not attend our facilities if feeling unwell. Anyone experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms should call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 or a GP team to inquire about a COVID-19 test.

We also encourage you to maintain good personal hygiene, including sanitising or washing hands for 20 seconds, and coughing or sneezing into an elbow.

In Alert Level 2, we encourage the use of face coverings and require physical distancing of at least 1 metre in our facilities. In areas where physical distancing is not possible, we ask that you please wear a face covering.

To assist with contact tracing, COVID-19 Tracer App posters are throughout our facilities.
